The Opinion desk publishes signed argument from named authors across the sector: where higher education should go, not just where it is. Opinion is the one desk that argues - which is exactly why it is labelled, signed and kept apart from the news record.
Writing for us
The contributor standard
- Signed and disclosed. Authors are named, and any interest in the subject is declared alongside the piece.
- Argued from facts. Claims of fact inside an opinion piece are held to the news standard - cited, checkable, corrected if wrong.
- Never misleading. Pieces about providers and courses must not make claims the sector itself could not make under the representation standards of the Threshold Standards (Domain 7).
- Right of reply. Anyone criticised by name is offered space to respond.
Launch note. This desk is live and its first opinion pieces are in preparation. Nothing on this page is placeholder journalism: until publication day we list only our coverage scope and the evergreen framework explainers, so that everything you read here is verifiable today.
